Pat started off as am apprentice as a fitter and turner for Sykes Pumps. At the age of 21 he then moved on to become a service engineer on the road, travelling around the country, and occasionally abroad, he did this for 42 years. In September 2006, Pat came off the road and back into the workshop, as a service engineer, were he no longer has to worry about the hectic traffic life on the road. We wish Pat many more happy years with Sykes Pumps To celebrate part of his 50 year service Pat attended the Specialist in Construction Awards 2007. Specialist in Construction Awards 2007 2007
is the year Sykes Pumps turns 150 years,
so to celebrate our 150years in the pumping
business, was to sponsor a category at the
Specialist in Construction Awards.
The event was held at the Hilton Park Lane in London, Sykes Pumps sponsored Major Project Category and we were please to present the award to Rolf kristiansen of SirRobert McAlpine. Sykes Pumps, think this is a good way to award employees on the work they do in their industries, as some times bosses seem to forget to praise their staff on the good work they do from time to time and we are all guilty of doing this. So to present an award to an employee of another company shows that they are seen for the work they do in their field and it is not forgotten or not praised. The evening was enjoyed by many companies that attended and customers that were invited to the awards. We look forward to sponsoring the Awards in 2008.
You can Call on us...
Andrews Sykes has had its own call centre for the last year and customers have been able to hire air conditioning and get friendly advice on there requirements by comingdirect to the call centre where the phone is answered straight away. We were able to cover the whole of the UK and by having our calls come into the Southern and Northern call centre’s customers didn't have to listen to the phone constantly ringing or hear the engaged tone. This enabled us to deliver a better service than we have in the past including same day delivery which was well received by customers especially on those hot days we experienced last summer! Rob is delighted and very excited to be joining Andrews Sykes at such a key time for the development of the Company and will work hard to ensure the contact centre strongly reflects the strategy of the company going forward. Welcome Rob to the Andrews Sykes team.Sykes Pumps renews sponsorship of British Superbike team.
Silver Anniversary.

This knowledge and expertise, has now been used to help design and develop the Aurora range that sets new standards for energy efficiency, combined with unrivalled performance. Backed by 24/7 service, 365 days of the year, from a nationwide network of depots that can provide instant response, the new Aurora heaters represent the future of heating. Described as 'smarter by design', these indirect oil-fuelled heaters incorporate a high efficiency heat exchanger (92%+) for more cost-effective running. The Aurora is available in two ranges: the ultra compact IMA series which includes the 111 model at only 80cms wide, which has been designed to go through a standard door for use virtually anywhere, and the 185 model at 91cms wide. Fully portable and easily transportable, they are compact in design without compromising on power. You can use them on building and construction sites for all-weather projects. In marquees, retail showrooms and sports halls, to heat large spaces fast. For industry and manufacturing, they're great in warehouses. They're also perfect for agriculture and horticulture and in stores, greenhouses and polytunnels, without risking harmful ethylene and CO2 emissions. In the auto trade, they are ideal for workshops and body preparation areas. The Aurora IMAs are fully automatic for ease of use and include a powerful fan to enhance heat distribution. They use a warm air recirculating system for maximum efficiency. Fork lift slots ensure trouble-free delivery, from where it can be simply wheeled into position. A single pipe fuel feed and 24 volt remote control circuit simplify set up, while full overheating protection ensures safety. The high capacity IMAC Series includes the 4000 and 2000S models which are quickly and safely stackable for storage. You can therefore be confident you will have all the heat that's needed for big spaces such as major construction projects, warehouses, manufacturing facilities and temporary buildings for events. The larger IMACs are also containerised and combine high capacity, efficiency and performance with safe and simple transportability. Crane hooks and fork slots, stainless steel frame and weather resistant casing are complemented by completely automatic burner control for maximum safety and fuel efficiency. A powerful fan and ducting outlets allow heat to be piped to different locations within a large space. All Aurora heaters include intelligently engineered fuel tank connections, which are quick to use and spill-proof, and neutral generating three phase transformers. This attention to design detail, coupled with Andrews Sykes’ commitment to service, make for unbeatable performance and value in a market that demands the best. The Andrews Sykes Heat for Hire service is as warm as the heaters
and includes free site surveys, friendly
advice, cost effective fuel supplies and fuel management options. Building on Success Nothing succeeds like success and Andrews Sykes will be building on the achievements of 2006 on every front. "We’re a hire service company that takes service very seriously", says Managing Director, Paul Wood. "When our customers want an air conditioning or heating solution they nearly always want it now. It’s one of the key characteristics of our market - meeting that need is, for us, a given. We operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year and can, if required, guarantee delivery within four hours." It’s this commitment to service, and creating a national 'One Stop' solution, that is really paying dividends. It has enabled us to achieve a tremendously successful year overall but especially on air conditioning hire, which was a record year. Achieving this level of performance isn't something that a company can define as a goal and expect to happen - it takes an incredible investment in time, expertise and capital. Andrews operates from 30 depots, with more opening in both the UK and overseas during 2007. Each one of these is fully stocked with a wide range of HVAC equipment but, this is only half the story, as Paul explains. "The depots and equipment represent ongoing capital investment with over £5 million invested in fleet hire in 2006. This is worthless though without a whole army of very talented people making everything run smoothly. All our service engineers and technicians are highly qualified, which ensures our customers receive our products in good working condition. Their level of knowledge, problem solving ability and service ethic defines the customer experience and thus our ongoing success which enables us to meet our ‘Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere' philosophy. Product-wise, we hire AC units from a 2kW portable to 500kW chillers and, on our Heat for Hire side, from 3kW electric heaters to over 1,000,000 btu indirect fired containerised units. Overall, I believe we now have the most modern line up in Europe, with our new Heating products offering low emission and fuel economy, with either 407C or 410 refrigerant options for our cooling equipment. On the boiler side, our hugely successful 'Mobile Units' brand has been expanded to provide fully containerised plant rooms or compact units, from 100kW to 500kW, with dual circuits for both heating and hot water.” 2007 is looking even more exciting for the Andrews Sykes Group with plans already well advanced, which include a further £5 million investment in the hire fleet to which 3,000 new AC units have already been added. Also, a new range of Aurora heaters is being launched this December and new boilers will be unveiled at the H&V07 Exhibition. Paul sums up: "The last 12 months have been really exciting; the next will be even more exciting and, any day now, we’ll be starting plans for even more growth in 2008". Contact details: |
