SPLIT AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS

Types of air conditioning: split systems

Making sure you choose the right system is very important - and we can provide you with expert advice following a FREE site survey. In this type of fixed air conditioning, the condenser unit is conveniently located away from the main (indoor) inverter unit, often on a roof or next to an exterior wall – hence the name.

What's right for you?

Our engineers and installation specialists will guide you through the process. How much control do you need over your climate? Do you want cooling only, or ventilation and heating as well? How many rooms will be covered and how big are they: sizing is critical.

What's the room used for, as different activities have different needs? How many people use the space, what's the solar gain if any, and how much heat-generating office or mechanical equipment is there? Equipment choice is also influenced by where you can place the unit or units. Is there a false ceiling, or free space on walls? If so, what's the optimum height?

What are split-type systems?

With split-type air conditioning, the condenser unit (housing the motor, fan and other components) is outside the building or the area being cooled, ensuring quiet operation for the indoor inverter unit. They can be located up to 20 metres apart.

Because the splits range starts with smaller units, they are ideal for smaller rooms and locations. However they extend up to larger more powerful models for commercial applications: the bigger the indoor unit, the bigger the external condensing unit required. Multi splits are systems that allow up to five indoor units to be connected to one outdoor unit.

With heat-pump technology, split systems can provide room heating as well as cooling, which is often an economical alternative to central heating systems.

No two customers or locations are the same. That's why Andrews specialises in bespoke installations for organisations large or small, whether it's a retrofit into an existing space or a new build project.

What products are available?

We'll recommend and install the right systems for your location and environment. Using equipment from leading manufacturers including Daikin and Fujitsu, our units deliver:

  • Application friendly design - high performance and high efficiency plus space-saving design and low noise features
  • Environmentally aware design - less refrigerants used and energy saving components
  • Installation friendly design - fast and non-disruptive installation, automatic refrigerant charging, containments checks and powerful diagnostics
  • User friendly design - easy-to-use controls, with advanced control options available

Various shapes, sizes and models are available - from slimline indoor inverters to multi-type systems and grouped units. The range of indoor units includes:
